    Streisand was born on April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1959, but never enrolled in college. Streisand married actor Elliott Gould in 1963. The couple had a son, Jason Gould, before divorcing in 1971. On July 1, 1998, Streisand married actor James Brolin. Brolin has two children from previous relationships.

    Streisand began singing in nightclubs as a teenager. She made her first television appearance in 1961 on The Tonight Show.
