Senator Barbara Boxer: "Don't Call Me Ma'am" - General Michael Walsh
This clip illustrates a conversation between Boxer and General Michael Walsh. In the military, the terms "sir" or "ma'am" are reserved for authority figures and used to address officers. While addressing the Senator, Walsh refers to her as "Ma'am", to which she states she has worked hard to achieve her title of "senator" and would appreciate if he addressed her as such.
