Bananaz

Bananaz is a documentary film about the creators of the Gorillaz band and how it was formed.

Most people know the band Gorillaz as the quirky cartoon characters in their videos and in a virtual sense. The band is famous for appearing both in their videos and on stage as simply cartoons, with the real performers behind the scenes. They even appeared as holograms to perform with Madonna at the 2006 Grammy Awards.

Bananaz shows the band behind the scenes, as real people rather than cartoon characters. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett give insight into the seven years leading up to the current Gorillaz band. The footage shows the work that went into their two successful albums, a self titled 2001 debut and the 2006 Demon Days as well as what was necessary to make a virtual band successful.
