A favorite treat for over 100 years, the banana split is a simple to make dessert. Hardly more complicated than an ice cream sundae, a banana split is made with a peeled banana "split" lengthwise and placed in a dish. Scoops of ice cream and are then placed on top, followed by any combination of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, cherries, and nuts that you desire.
