Banana pudding is a layered dessert that is usually made by layering a desert pan with custard or pudding, bananas and vanilla wafers or ladyfingers. It can be made several different ways including a baked version and a refriderated version. The earliest published date of the first banana pudding recipe was found in a book by Mary Harris Frazer in 1903 titled The Kentucky Receipt Book.
  • Creamy Banana Pudding

  • Ingredients

    1. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
    2. 1 1/2 cups cold water
    3. 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
    4. 2 cups whipping cream, whipped
    5. 36 vanilla wafers
    6. 3 medium bananas, sliced and dipped in
    7. Lemon juice

  • Directions

    1. In large mixing bowl, combine condensed milk and water. Add pudding mix; beat until well blended. Chill 5 minutes.
    2. Fold in whipped cream. Spoon 1-cup pudding mixture into 2 1/2-quart glass serving bowl.
    3. Top with one-third each of the vanilla wafers, bananas and pudding. Repeat layering twice, ending with pudding mixture. Chill thoroughly. Garnish. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator. Serves 8.
