Baltimore is the largest city in the state of Maryland with the population of over 600,000 people. The surrounding area including suburbs has over six million people.

Average temperatures are a mild 50 to 60 degree in spring and fall with winter temperatures usually not much lower than 30 degrees with possible snow. Summers temperatures are in the 80s and 90s and very hot and humid.

Baltimore was founded by Irishmen Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore on June 20, 1729. A sea port grew up around the area and the town became a bustling metropolis through most the 1800s and early 1900s. Ultimately economic the climate changed from shipping and industry to more of a customer service and health care economy fueled by the nearby John Hopkins Hospital.

Director John Waters was born in Baltimore and raised in the nearby Lutherville, Maryland. Many of his films including the 2007 John Travolta vehicle Hairspray.
