Playoff History
After the 2009-10 season, the Ravens played in the postseason for the sixth time since the team was founded back in 1996. The Ravens first appeared in the playoffs in 2000, where they advanced to the Super Bowl and defeated the New York Giants. In 2001, the Ravens lost in the divisional round against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They made it again in 2003, but lost in the Wild Card round against the Tennessee Titans.
After a couple years without a postseason appearance, the Ravens clinched the division in 2006, but lost in their first playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. In the 2008-09 season, the Ravens earned a Wild Card spot and made it all the way to the conference championship, losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
During their Super Bowl run, the Ravens were led by their overpowering defense. Current Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Chris McAlister led the defensive unit. The team's running back was Jamal Lewis, who rushed for over 1,000 yards that year, and their quarterback was Trent Dilfer, who threw for 12 touchdowns.
