Balenciaga is an international fashion brand created by Cristobal Balenciaga, a Spanish designer born and raised in Basque. Balenciaga introduced couture shapes to the world of womens clothing and has been referred to as the master of us all by mega designer Christian Dior. Balenciaga's vision of the bubble skirt and odd yet feminine over the top modern design, gained him worldwide recognition.

Now owned by the Gucci Group, Balenciaga is headed by Nicolas Ghesquiere and has become famous for its line of motorcycle inspired handbags like the popular "Lariat". Balenciaga owns three boutiques in the United States, found in Honolulu, Los Angeles and headquartered in New York on W. 22nd St. A Boston location at the Mandarin Oriental is expected to open soon.

Balenciaga has designed dresses for Jennifer Connelly and Nicole Kidman for the 2006 Academy Awards, along with the wedding gown wore by Kidman for her marriage to Keith Urban.
