Baklava

  • Baklava is phyllo dough wrapped around a sweet, nutty filling. It was popular during the Ottoman Empire and has come to be associated with Turkey, although its origin is a subject of some dispute. The dish was used as a test for pastry chefs during the Ottoman Empire. It was viewed as an aphrodisiac, and different versions were made for men and women.
