The big winner was The Hurt Locker, which won six awards of its eight nominations, including "Best Picture", "Best Director ", "Best Original Screenplay", "Best Cinematography", "Best Sound" and "Best Editing". James Cameron won two awards with his movie Avatar, for "Best Production Design" and "Best Visual Effects".
