The Back to the Future films are a popular movie trilogy starring Michael J. Fox (Marty) and Christopher Lloyd (Doc). In the films Marty and Doc create a time machine out of a modified DeLorean and travel to different dates in time, including 1955, 2015 and 1885. The series contains three films, all of which feature Fox and Lloyd. The original Back to the Future was the highest-grossing film of 1985.
DeLorean DMC-12
The Back to the Future films helped to establish a cult following of the DeLorean DMC-12, the car converted to a time machine. The car was only in production from 1981-1982, and only sold around 9,000 units. Because of the success of the films, the DMC-12 became more popular than it was while in production. Approximately 6,500 DeLoreans are still on the road, and many are driven by fans of the films.
