Bacardi is the fourth largest spirits company in the world, producing such brands as Bacardi Superior, Bacardi 151, Dewar's Scotch Whisky, Cazadores Tequila, Grey Goose Vodka, and Bombay Sapphire Gin.
Although initially synonymous with rum, Bacardi has branched out and is doing well with their popular brands of other spirits such as vodka, whisky, gin and tequila.
With three choices of their base rum product, consumers may choose Bacardi Light which is a light-flavored rum, favored for using in mixed drink cocktails such as the popular Mojito. There is also Bacardi Gold which is a little more full-bodied and flavorful. If you like a rum you can sink your teeth into, try Bacardi Dark. Rum is made from fermented sugar cane sap. So, in the darker rums, you can taste the smoky molasses flavor that is the signature flavor of dark rum.
Bacardi Superior
Bacardi Superior is a type of rum produced by the Bacardi company commonly used in cocktails containing rum, including the Cuba Libre and Daiquiri. Bacardi Superior is 80 proof and colorless.
Bacardi 151
There is often a question about Bacardi 151 rum. The number is based on the "proof," or alcohol content of the liquor. Bacardi 151 is a 151 proof liquor (meaning it is 75.5% alcohol-by-volume), is a popular brand produced by Bacardi and packs a serious punch. Most "hard spirits" are in the 80% range (40 proof), so this is evidence of the rum's relative strength. 151 rum is sometimes served flaming, meaning the shot is set on fire. The bottle warns consumers to avoid placing the bottle near an open flame because the contents are extremely flammable.
Bacardi Mojito Ad
Bacardi light is the rum of choice used in making the refreshing Mojito, fairly recently renewed in its popularity. In this instance, the consumer does not want an "in your face" rum flavor. It needs to be subtle so the essence of the mint and other ingredients also shine through.
