Babyshambles are a rock band fronted by singer-songwriter and guitarist Pete Doherty, formerly of The Libertines. Owing to Doherty's reputation for substance abuse and multiple drug-related arrest, his band has been scrutinized for more than its music. The debut, 2005's Down in Albion, reflected Doherty's talents, as well as his self-destructive behavior, with the poignance and poetry of the title track (a tribute to William Blake), as well as blustery rockers like the single "Fuck Forever." The follow-up, 2007's Shotter's Nation, was hailed by some critics as a return to Libertines-era form—Observer Music Monthly gave it 5 stars, calling it, "The 'Pete Doherty gets it together' album."
