The Baby Monitor is a transmitter and receiver system used to allow a caregiver to hear or see a baby from another room or if you need to go outside to check the mail or greet any guests and so on and so forth. This is nice, when your little one has finally started sleeping in his/her own room, or when you are in a different room getting things needed to be done finished. This will allow you to have a little comfort in letting your little one sleep alone for the first time! If it is only a nap, or your child's full night sleep, rest assured you will hear and know about every noise your little bundle of joy will make through the time.. It is almost as if your right there with them!

The transmitter, which has the microphone is left in the room with the baby while the receiver, which has the speaker, plays the sound of the baby or child from another room. Baby monitors can also be bi-directional, allowing the caregiver to talk to the baby. So if you wanted to sing or talk while in another room, this will allow you that luxury.

Some monitors are also equipped with lights and vibration capabilities to further aid in alerting the caregiver of the baby's needs or potential problems.
