On November 6, 2009 members of the Washington County Florida sheriff’s department found the infant Shannon Lee Dedrick alive after having been reported missing.
The infant was located locked in a chest underneath a bed in her aunt’s home where she had been for 12 hours.
History
The seven-month-old baby girl Shannon Lee Dedrick was reported missing on November 2, 2009 by her mother Crystina Lynn Mercer. The ensuing police investigation determined the mother had actually given the baby to her paternal aunt, before filing the missing person’s report with the local police department. Both the mother and the paternal Aunt Susan Baker have been charged in this event.
