Baby Jesus

According to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke in the Christian Bible, Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary, a virgin, through a miracle of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was reportedly born in a manger since there was a shortage of available rooms at the Bethlehem inn when Mary and Joseph arrived.

Artistic Subject

For centuries, artists have created various works that feature the baby Jesus. Nativity scenes, which reproduce the site of the birth of Jesus and are commonly displayed during the Christmas season, are the most common artistic depictions. Also common are reproductions of The Madonna and Child (Mary and baby Jesus), which is one of the main representations of Christianity.NationMaster.com: Madonna and Child
