Pig Actors
Because pigs mature quickly, 48 different pigs played the role of Babe throughout the film. Each one had false eyelashes and a toupee applied by makeup artists.Activist Cromwell
Actor James Cromwell had been a long time vegetarian for ethical reasons prior to making the film. The experience of making Babe caused him to become a vegan (someone who does not eat any animal products, including dairy and egg). Cromwell has since been active as a spokesman for both PETA and The Humane Society.
