The AXPO Super League is the highest Swiss football league. It is compromised of 10 teams with the last placed being demoted to Challenge League and the second last playing a play off against the second from Challenge League to remain in the league at the end of each season.
In 1931 the first season was played as all Swiss leagues united into one. Before 2003 the Super League was known as the Nationalliga A.
