• The Axiotron Modbook is an Apple-authorized tablet PC, targeted towards artists and designers. Not merely a Mac accessory, it is actually a MacBook in itself, converted into a tablet PC. The Modbook was unveiled at the 2007 MacWorld conference, where it won a Best in Show award.

The Modbook is a MacBook, transfered into a single-panel touch screen tablet with a rugged, magnesium alloy shell. The feel of the tablet is designed to mimic that of an old-fashioned, non-digital writing surface. This is accomplished partly through an input pen (or stylus) whose tip provides, "the most paper-like drawing experience," according to the product's homepage. The pen is also designed for accuracy, with 512 levels of pressure sensitivity, and registering 133 position updates per second. The screen's surface material is an Axiotron innovation called ForceGlass, which the company claims to be stronger, more scratch-resistant and more optically accurate than the screens of most tablet PCs.
