  • The Australian Kelpie is a medium breed of sheep dog used mostly for herding sheep and poultry. There are two types of Australian Kelpies, the show kelpie and the working kelpie.

    The kelpie is considered a generally healthy breed, but like most pure bred dogs are susceptible to common health problems. The kelpie can suffer from health issues such as hip dysplasia, luxating patella, cerebellar abiotrophy. The kelpie is generally considered an energetic and intelligent dog that demands constand challenge and attention.
