Australian Food

Australian food, locally known as "Bush Tucker", originated from the cuisine of Great Britain, but modern variations show influences from Asia and Eastern Europe.

Traditional Breakfast

Breakfast is similar to those popular in the Western countries. Small breakfasts commonly consist of cereal, toast or fruit, while a heavier breakfast may consist of bacon, eggs and sausage.

Traditional Entrees

Common dinner meals include roast beef, barbecue meats and casseroles. Asian foods are popular throughout the region, including spring rolls and stir fries.

Traditional Desserts

The most popular dessert is Pavlova, a meringue dessert, which is believed to have originated in the area. The lamington is also popular, which is a chocolate-covered spongecake, sometimes filled with cream or jam.
