An Australian woman, Jasmine Luong, has been sentenced to death by firing squad after being convicted of heroin trafficking by a Vietnamese court. The Australian government will seek clemency on Luong's behalf, on the grounds that since Australia does not condone the death penalty, Luong's sentence should be changed.
