Following playing football at Oak Ridge High School in California, where he was named the most valuable player in Northern California and by The Sacramento Bee, Collie made his collegiate debut with the BYU Cougars football team in 2004. Throughout his three seasons with BYU, Collie recorded 215 receptions for 3,355 yards and 30 touchdowns between 37 games. Collie earned numerous honors, including All-American and All-Mountain West Conference selections, and set school records for the most receptions, receiving yards, touchdown receptions and 100+-yard games. He also led the NCAA during his junior season in 2008, ranking first for receiving yards per game, total receiving yards and consecutive 100-yard receiving games.
