The Sundance Film Festival movie August chronicles the struggles of two brothers to keep their once successful start-up company thriving in the months before 9-11.
Synopsis
During the summer of 2001 the dot com bubble burst and Tom (played by Josh Hartnett) had a wildly successful company called LandShark. He and his brother (Adam Scott) went from dirt poor Brooklyn street kids to billionaires almost over night. The film begins with Landshark in its hey day and follows Tom and his company as the reality of a "market correction" takes hold. He has to use all his ingenuity, street smarts, and Brooklyn bluster to survive the crash that took out thousands of jobs and ruined lives.
