Attila the Hun (406-453 A.C.) was leader of the Huns and was known for his bloody conquests throughout Europe to acquire land and money. He became known as the "Scourge of God" because many believed he was sent by God to punish people for their sins How Stuff Works: Attila (2008). Attila attacked the Holy Roman Empire three times throughout his rule, stretching the Hunnic Empire west into France and east into Kazakhstan.
