Overview
Attachment parenting, or AP, can mean different things for different families. But the main focus of the style is for parents to follow their baby's cues to know how to raise them, instead of enforcing a one-size-fits-all method.
AP minded families usually co-sleep, breastfeed, homeschool and babywear. Many AP parents use gentle discipline, which includes time-out, instead of corporal discipline, such as spanking or swatting.
Some AP parents not only homeschool their children, but "unschool" them. Unschooling refers to education that follows the child's interests, or child-led learning. While many are skeptical of this style of teaching, unschooling families insist that their children learn everything they need and are often ahead of their peers academically.
