Since its 1972 inception, Atari manufactured many popular arcade games and broke new ground with the Atari 2600, which kick-started the popularization of home video game systems in the late 1970s and 1980s.
The Atari brand and corporate name have changed hands several times, but new games continue to be released under the Atari name today.
