At the Drive-In was a post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas who disbanded in 2001 at the height of their popularity due to a grueling travel schedule and artistic disagreements between band members. Two separate bands, The Mars Volta and Sparta were formed from the members of At the Drive-In.

At The Drive-In Breakup
At the Drive-In broke up in 2001 due in large part to the band's growing popularity and the stress that fame put on the band's members, including a grueling travel. Artistic differences were also said to impact that band and contribute to its break-up. Mars Volta member Cedric Bixler-Zavala took responsibility for the breakup of the band, saying that he did not want to be confined to a punk or hardcore sound. The break-up of the band resulted in the formation of two other bands: The Mars Volta and Sparta.-
