'Assassin's Creed is a 2007 action-stealth game set in the year 1191 during the Third Crusade. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and released on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. Sony announced the game will be released on PSP in 2009, and get a sequel in Assassins Creed.
General tips and tricks:
- Crowd control. When facing a group of city guards, try to reach the nearest group of vigilantes. They slow down the city guards you are not attacking, allowing you to grab or stab them from behind, getting some easy kills.
- Use knives. During assassination missions, knives are your best bet at quickly diminishing opponents who are standing between you and your target, or between you and your escape. They are especially effective against archers. When depleted, you can pickpocket a thug, or go to the local bureau.
- Use your marker to easily navigate your map. This can be extra handy when performing a times challenge. Use the map to carefully plan your next move, and plant the marker there, to help you orientate around the map.
- Run when overwhelmed. Don't feel bad about getting out of the heat when attacked by multiple enemies. If you feel you're going to lose the battle, retreat, hide, and re-engage.

To effectively play the game, follow these steps
1. Visit the Assassin's Guild
2. Climb all towers to map the City area
3. Rescue all the citizens (helping you cover your escape later on)
4. Compete the informant missions
5. Complete the pickpocket missions (to get information for the Guild)
6 Return to the guild HQ to get your assignment
Don't bother with tracking flags, unless you want to complete the game 100%
Completing missions will lengthen your health-bar. This is especially handy when you cannot escape a fight.
Even though Altair is very capable of fighting, it is better to perform a sneak attack.
Try to eliminate archers on rooftops first. When cleared, the rooftops are an excellent escape.
When outside the Animus, if you are told to go to sleep, go to sleep.
