Cardiologist Dr. Mehmet Oz began a successful mainstream television career on the The Oprah Winfrey Show segment, Ask Dr Oz. Dr. Oz is a heart surgeon, author and previous host of the Second Opinion medical show on the Discovery Health channel.
Dr Oz joined Harpo productions with his own series, Ask Dr Oz that premiered in the fall of 2009. Dr. Oz spent his final day on The Oprah Winfrey Show on May 12, 2009, watching the highlights of his five years as the show's medical expert.
