• Ask.com is a popular internet search engine. Originally known as Ask Jeeves when it launched in 1996, the site began as the first commercial question-answering site. It has since transitioned to being one of the most successful search engines available. Ask.com is owned by InterActiveCorp, a public company traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol IACI.
  • Jeeves

Jeeves was a fictional valet or butler to whom users could pose questions in a syntactically normal way (i.e. "how do I get to Disneyland?") and have those questions answered. The search engine also supported keyword queries. Between 2005 and 2006, the company decided to retire the character and rename the site Ask.com. The site followed up by launching their "it's the algorithm" advertising campaign.
