17-year-old Asia LeeShawn Ferguson IV was decapitated by the Batman: The Ride roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. He was visiting the theme park with a church group.
Ferguson climbed over two six-foot fences to get into a restricted area under the roller coaster. The ride was going approximately 50 miles per hour when it struck Ferguson. None of the riders were injured.
Investigation and Reopening
On July 2, 2008, the Batman ride reopened after being investigated by State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. Previous Incident at Batman Coaster
In 2002, Samuel Guyton, a maintenance worker at Six Flags Over Georgia, was killed in a similar manner.
