In the midst of the controversy surrounding then-New York Governor Eliot Spitzer in early 2008, Ashley Alexandra Dupre was identified as the prostitute Spitzer was involved with.

Dupre, an aspiring musician, featured two songs on her MySpace profile, which was quickly discovered by curious members of the public and press. One of them was titled "Move Ya Body," a dance track reminiscent of Britney Spears's songs. The lyrics are somewhat more explicit than that of the other featured song on her page, "What We Want."

"Move Ya Body" is available for purchase on the Amie Street website, which prices songs based on popularity. Both of Dupre's singles were sold at the top price of 98 cents, 70% of which went to Dupre. The New York Post reported in a March 2008 article that Dupre had earned about $200,000 from the downloads.

  • Critical Response

    • "[T]he pure mediocrity of this synth-backed 3 minute 27 second song ensures it will be played on commercial radio." - The Ampersand
