General Ashfaq Kiani is the chief of the Pakistani Army. On November 28, 2007, Pervez Musharraf stepped down from his position as chief of army staff and handed power to his hand-picked successor, Kiani. Prior to receiving the position as chief of army staff, Kiani was the director general of inter-services intelligence.
