Allen attended University of Georgia where he played three seasons as a cornerback before he declared to forego his senior season to enter the 2009 NFL Draft. As a freshman, he was named team's Defensive Newcomer of the Year, Biggest Defensive Surprise of the Spring, and was a recepient of Tommy Reeder Football Scholarship. He was listed as number one SC prior to fall practice and received the David C. Cooper Family Football Scholarship in his sophomore season. In 2008, he was named to Phil Steele's All-SEC Third Team and received True Grit Award at conclusion of spring practice.
