Plot Summary
Mean-spirited obsessive-compulsive bigot Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson)'s life is turned upside down after his gay neighbor, Simon (Greg Kinnear), is brutally mugged. Udall is charged with looking after Simon's dog, for which he develops a grudging affection. When Carol (Helen Hunt), the only waitress who will serve Melvin at his favorite restaurant, is called away from work to care for her sick child, Melvin realizes how much he needs and cares for her. -
