The Uses of the Felt Pen
ArtRage is a very inexpensive program for artists to use who want to have a vast array of tools at their disposal. One of the many features of ArtRage is the felt pen tool. This is basically like having a marker on a digital canvas, and it gives you the freedom to customize with the different presets.
The standard felt pen tool works like prismacolor marker. It swipes lightly and delicately and by going over the swipe multiple times you can make the color darker. Also when you change the color of the felt pen, you can blend it to create new colors like you would with a real marker.Changing the Presets
There are different presets for the felt pen tool that allow you change the thickness and stroke of the felt pen.
- Blending marker: This makes it easy to blend the color of the tool with other colors to create an interesting background.
- Hard tips: This makes the edges of the felt pen line tapered and more square.
- Left the cap off: This is an interesting preset that makes the felt pen write like it's been partially dried out.
- Soft marker: This makes the pen strokes very small and faint.
Changing the Settings
Felt pen also has several settings that allow you to alter the presets even more. Working like an equalizer, you can adjust the felt pen to how you need it to be.
- Pressure: This changes the size of the tool. You don't have to worry about this if you have a tablet.
- Softness: This makes the stroke of felt pen lighter.
- Wetness: This makes the markings of the felt pen more vibrant as if it were brand new.
- Art pen: This option causes the pen to write with a heavier stroke.
