Artificial insemination is the process of creating a baby without having sex. Sperm is injected into the vagina with a syringe instead.http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/artificial+insemination?db=dictionary It is used in humans and animals.http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P3-1248754091.html It is also known as intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Donor Insemination is is a type of artificial insemination where the man of a couple cannot make sperm that are able to fertilize the woman's egg and make a baby, and so they decide to go to a sperm bank and use sperm from another man. Most doctors recommend that the couple receive counseling before using sperm from another man. The couple has the right to choose which donor's sperm they will use, from which sperm bank. Sperm banks should tell the couple the physical characteristics, career, race, history, ethnic background, educational background, and general health condition of each donor whose sperm the couple shows interest in using. Donors who are unhealty or who have known exposure to HIV or AIDS are excluded from participating in licensed sperm banks. http://www.resolve.org/site/PageServer?pagename=lrn_wamo_di
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a special kind of artificial insemination where the sperm is injected directly into the egg. This helps if the man's sperm have trouble penetrating the woman's eggs because the heads of the man's sperm are not hard enough or the woman's eggs are too strong. This procedure is done outside the woman's body. The fertilized egg lives in a test tube for a few days, and then it is put inside the woman's womb. http://www.asrm.org/uploadedFiles/ASRM_Content/Resources/Patient_Resources/Fact_Sheets_and_Info_Booklets/ICSI-Fact.pdf
