Florida hedge fund manager Arthur Nadel was reported missing by his wife on January 14, 2009. Two days after Nadel's disappearance, on January 16, 2009, several investors in Nadel's fund contacted police to complain about the apparent disappearance of their invested funds. A 15-count indictment against Nadel was unsealed in a Manhattan federal court on April 28, 2009. The indictments accuse Nadel of securities fraud, wire fraud and mail fraud. Alleged Suicide Note
Shortly before he was reported missing, Nadel called his stepson and told him to read a note that he had left there. The contents of the note were not disclosed, but Nadel was reportedly "distraught" and his family members were "concerned about his welfare" after reading it.
