  • The Name

    The term "Artful Dodger" is a British colloquialism for someone who is skilled at avoiding the consequences of his or her misdeeds. The phrase is a reference to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, in which the character known as the Artful Dodger is a child protégé to the criminal mastermind Fagin.
