Career Overview
Art Burt formed in 2003, distributing their first homemade album, Brutlegs, at live shows. They were signed to Rough Trade Records, which released their first single, "Formed a Band."In 2005, the band's proper debut, Bang Bang Rock and Roll, was released the international praise. They performed at a number of festivals in 2006, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Pitchfork Music Festival.
Their second album, It's a Bit Complicated, followed in 2007. The band left EMI in 2008 after the company released their song, "Pump Up the Volume," as a download-only single, against the band's wishes.
