Arron Asham

Canadian professional hockey player Arron Asham plays for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League. He was born on April 13, 1978, in Portage la Praire, Manitoba in Canada. Asham was drafted 71st overall in the 1996 NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He played two additional seasons with his junior team, the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, before joining the Canadiens' American Hockey League affiliate, the Fredericton Canadiens, in 1998. Asham made his NHL debut that same year, but split his time between the NHL and the AHL. On June 22, 2002, he was traded to the New York Islanders. Asham played in Switzerland, for the EHC Visp, during the 2004-05 NHL lockout. After two additional seasons with the Islanders, Asham signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils on August 7, 2007. After playing just one season in New Jersey, Asham signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. Asham's 2009-10 season was his second playing for the Flyers. After sitting out the first few games as a healthy scratch, he scored a goal in three straight games from October 16 to October 24, 2009. Asham had two multi-point games during the season, one coming on January 3, 2010 against the Ottawa Senators, the other on January 7, 2010 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
