Army Wives is a dramatic series featuring four women whose husbands are in the Army, as well as a man whose wife is in the Army. The series is based off of the non-fiction book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives, by Tanya Biank. This series is set in a fictional Fort Marshall which is located in Charleston, South Carolina and is home to the also fictional 23rd Airborne Division. This fictional Fort Marshall is believed to be based on the actual 82nd Airborne Division which is based at Fort Bragg.
In the pilot episode of Army Wives the viewers met Roxy, a women who decided to marry Trevor LeBlanc and move with him and her two children to his military post. Roxy takes a job at a local bar, which is also known as a Jody bar, which is a place where men come to hit on the wives of the enlisted. While working at this bar Roxy meets Claudia Joy Holden who is also an Army wife. Claudia believes that her husband Michael Holden did not receive his promotion because of base politics.
Another army wife is then introduced, Pamela Moran, she is pregnant with twins and is secretly acting as a surrogate in order to get her family out of debt.
Denise Sherwood is the fourth Army wife and not only is she dealing with her very strict husband, Frank Sherwood, who is about to be deployed but she also is having to deal with her sons anger management problems.
