Basics
- Army of Two is designed to be played co-op, and works best if you play it with a friend. It also includes single and multiplayer modes.
- Army of Two uses an aggro system that is explained in the tutorial. Whichever player appears to be the bigger threat will draw enemy fire away from the other, allowing them to get behind the enemy and eliminate them quickly.
- Tip: Use of the aggro system is essential if you wish to survive this game.
- Tip: Choose one of the players to be the "Aggro Magnet". This player will pimp their weapons and get the biggest, loudest guns they can find while the other player invests in stealth weapons.
- Stay behind cover. It's there to keep you alive. Army of Two does not make a distinction between "soft cover" and "hard cover," meaning a tent will stop bullets just as well as a cement wall. Use this to your advantage.
- Aiming for the head will bring enemies down faster, but will burn more ammo if you're inaccurate.
- Conserve ammo. There will almost certainly come a time where, if you're not careful, you'll be using only melee attacks.
- Some enemies drop ammo bags for primary, secondary and special weapons. Grab them whenever you see them but remember that your partner needs ammo too.
- Blind firing (pressing the "Fire" button from behind cover without aiming) is a good way to gain aggro. Also, it can potentially eliminate enemies and keep their heads down. Be warned, though: it burns a lot of ammo.
- If you ever get lost, use your GPS to get you back on track. It will tell you exactly where you need to go.
- Be on the lookout for a briefcase standing around. Each level has three briefcases. The only exceptions are training/Somalia (which have none) and the last mission (which has two.) The briefcases give you some cash and will lead up to an Achievement for the Xbox 360 version.

Basic Training
- YouTube: Army of Two - Aggro Training (Cutscene) (Time: 1:10)
- Watch the training video. Pay attention here if this is your first time. Everything you need to know to survive the entire game is provided here.
- Vault over the hurdles.
- Shoot the four dummies a few times each to drop them.
- Double tap right on the D-pad to tell your partner to hold position. If you're playing with a partner, have them sustain fire on the turret.
- Start moving close to the turret once your partner has enough aggro (when the turret isn't shooting at you.)
- Take the gunner down when you get close enough.
- Tip: Alternatively, if you're a good shot you can simply shoot the gunner's legs until he drops.
- Listen to the tutorial and chuck some grenades through the door of the target building.
- Take down the enemies using cover and aggro and they won't be a problem.
- Let your partner get aggro on the heavy soldier. Heavy soldiers have tough frontal armor, but are weak in the back. Once your partner has a lot of aggro, sneak around behind the heavy soldier and let him have it. Shooting them in the head is the quickest way to drop them.
- Use the GPS.
- Learn about sniping and pull a co-op snipe.
- Go back to back and take all enemies down. Be aware that there are enemies up on the rim of the pit as well as in it.
- Tip: You don't use ammo in back to back, so feel free to hold the trigger down.
- Walk around the corner and trip the mine. Your partner will drag you to safety (or you may have to drag your partner.) Drag them around the corner and heal them or cover your partner as they drag you around the corner and fix you up.
- Note: You can shoot when you are wounded and being dragged, so don't hesitate to help out your partner while they drag you to safety.
- Go back to the gate and mop up any remaining soldiers. Congratulations, training is finished.
