• An Armchair is a chair that has arm rests. It is usually padded. An ottoman can be purchased to allow you to put up your legs. A recliner is a type of armchair that has a rising foot rest from the base and a reclining chair back, allowing you to recline and put your feet up.

  Edward Knabusch and Edwin Shoemaker, cousins from Monroe, Michigan, invented the first recliner in 1928. The founded The Floral City Furniture Company which later became the well known brand La-Z-Boy.
