Armchair

An Armchair is a chair that has arm rests. It is usually padded. An ottoman can be purchased to allow you to put up your legs. A recliner is a type of armchair that has a rising foot rest from the base and a reclining chair back, allowing you to recline and put your feet up.
History:

Edward Knabusch and Edwin Shoemaker, cousins from Monroe, Michigan, invented the first recliner in 1928. The founded The Floral City Furniture Company which later became the well known brand La-Z-Boy.
