  • The Ark of the Covenant was a religious artifact used in the ancient Jewish temple and believed to be the throne of God on Earth. It was believed to have disappeared during the Babylonian occupation of Israel ~500 B.C. On July 26, 2009, the leader of the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian church held a press conference in Rome, Italy, to unveil the ark to the world.
