The Arizona Cardinals finished the 2009-2010 NFL season with a 10-6 record, and finishing in first place in the NFC West division. This led to a playoff birth for the second straight season, and only one season after just losing in the Superbowl to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cardinals are an offensively gifted team lead by quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. With these superstars on their roster the Cardinals are known for putting up a lot of points on the scoreboard and trying to play at such a fast pace that is undesirable for their opponents. Their 2010 playoff run started off well with a home victory against the Green Bay Packers in overtime by the score of 51-45, but came to an end when they lost badly the next week to the New Orleans Saints.
Background
The Arizona Cardinals franchise was originally founded in 1898 while based in Chicago and are currently the oldest running franchise in the NFL. They moved to St. Louis in 1960 and played there until 1987, never really achieving any great success there. Since then, the Cardinals have called Tempe, Arizona their home, and have had their greatest success the past two seasons. In fact, in the 2008-09 season, they made it all the way to the Superbowl and lost 27-23 on a late touchdown pass with under a minute to go in the game.
