The Arizona Cardinals have had some pretty interesting draft results over their history. Since moving to Arizona in 1988, the Cardinals have had many players that have turned out to either be really bad, or really good.
The main player that sticks out in every Cardinal fans' mind is Andre Wadsworth. Wadsworth was selected with the 3rd overall pick in the 1998 draft. Wadsworth ended his career with just eight sacks in total. The kicker was that Pro Bowl players like Charles Woodson, Takeo Spikes, Randy Moss, Samari Rolle, and Jeremiah Trotter were selected after Wadsworth in the draft.
Since the start of the new millenium, the Cardinals have fared very well in picking up good players. The players that stand out are Anquan Boldin (second round in 2003), Larry Fitzgerald (first round, 2004), Darnell Dockett (third round, 2004), Reggie Wells (sixth round, 2003, Karlos Dansby (second round, 2004), and perhaps the best pick of all, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (first round, 2008). All of these players are now starters and pro bowlers, and if they continue to play for the Cardinals over the next decade, the Cardinals will be hoping to head to the Superbowl.
The jury is still out on franchise quarterback, Matt Leinart after the Cardinals drafted Leinart with the 10th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Leinart, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2004 at USC, could make the past decade a huge success for the Cardinals if his pro career blossoms into a successful one.
Although the past 20 years has seen many draft flops for the Cardinals including Wadsworth, Buster Davis, Wendell Bryant, and Tony Sacca, they are heading into the next decade with many players who can make this franchise successful. The Cardinals are in good stead, and if they can continue making smart draft day decisions, it is a good time to be a Cardinals fan.http://ari.scout.com/2/963384.html http://bleacherreport.com/articles/381029-the-10-biggest-draft-busts-in-arizona-cardinals-history
