  • Archie Moore, also known as, Archie "The Old Mongoose" Moore was a light heavyweight boxing champion who held the title from 1952 until 1959. He engaged in over 200 fights in a career that lasted more than a quarter of a century and has more recorded knockouts than any other boxer in the history of the sport.
  • Greatest Victories

    In 1952, Moore won his first Light Heavyweight title, defeating Joey Maxim by unanimous decision. Maxim only held the title for six months prior to fighting Moore, and he would lose both rematches against "The Old Mongoose" in the remaining six years of his career.

    In 1955, Bobo Olson challenged Moore for the title. Though Olson was favored to win, Moore knocked him out early in the third round.

  • Historical Knock Outs

    Before being knocked out in the ninth round, Moore was able to get a punch in, knocking down undefeated world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano.

    Moore was knocked out by heavyweight champions Floyd Patterson in round five and Muhammad Ali in round four.
