Mughal Horse Archery
This is a video from History Channel that features Mughal horseback archery. The technology behind the formidable weapon is explored in the context of history. To provide a balanced view, the documentary film producers compare the Mughal composite bow with the English longbow. A weapon expert provides his insights. He describes the making of the compact bow that reached an effective range of 2000 feet. The Mughal composite bow was lethal within 300 feet. It could shoot an arrow every 5 seconds. And its small size made horseback archery possible. The weapon shaped empires in Asia, such as the Mongol and the Mughal empires.
